Our 6th annual event will be held on June 21st, 1-4pm

The Story of Jason Zelward.

Jason Zelward was just 35 years old when he died on November 18, 2018 following a short battle with cancer.  He and his fiancé had just bought a home and had many plans, just like any other young couple would.  They were planning a wedding and his career was taking off.  Their lives were rich with so much love and joy until the horrible diagnosis that took all of that away.

Losing Jason devastated our family.  Our journey of grief has been long and difficult.  And we know many others have been on the same difficult journey.  We want you to know that you are not alone which is why we are proud to support the Compassionate Grief Centre with Annual Jason Zelward Physical Challenge.

What is the Jason Zelward Physical Challenge?

The JZ Physical Challenge is one of our annual fundraising events that is a good ole fashioned “Tug of War” with a side game of Washer Toss being played simultaneously. The Tug of War teams are a team of 5 (2 Men, 2 Women + 1 additional person) and you compete for the winning title of annual Champion. Teams raise money by pledge forms and the top fundraising team wins a prize. All money raised goes towards our grief & loss programs.

This event is fun for the whole family, with face painting and games for the kids and BBQ with funds going towards to goal of the event.

All Pledges Matched up to $5,000 Thanks to our Friends at Fundy Funeral Home

Congrats to our Gold & Silver medal Winners for Tug of War and Washer Toss!

Even if you can’t participate or attend you can add to the goal, every dollar helps.

Each year, we have the profound privilege of honoring a special family—one whose journey through grief has deeply touched our hearts and our organization. In remembering their loved one, we recognize not only the pain of loss but also the enduring love that remains. Their courage, vulnerability, and connection to our community deserve to be seen, felt, and honoured. It is our way of saying: your grief matters, your story matters, and your loved one will never be forgotten.

Our goal this season is to raise money for our Grief & Loss programs for the community. Even if you can participate in the event, you can pledge to raise money for the event. We have pledge sheets available and you can be a part of the top fundraising group.
